The Austrian-Venezuelan violist José Gabriel Piña began playing the viola at the age of 8 with "El Sistema". In 2008 he joined the National Youth Orchestra "Teresa Carreño" under the direction of Ulyses Ascanio and renowned guest conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim. He was at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt, the city of Haydn, and studied with Prof. Wolfgang Wölfer-Roth and Prof. Mag. Firmian Lermer. Since 2015 he has been active with various orchestras in Europe. He has participated in various Asian tours in China, Korea and Japan for concerts and New Year festivals. He was able to increase his orchestral experience in the Wiener Musikverein, Berlin Philharmonic, Gasteig Kulturzentrum Munich, Wiener Staatsoper, Lotte Concert Hall, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Yokohama Minatomirai Hall, Concertgebouw, Tokyo Opera City, Wiener Konzerthaus, Osaka Symphony Hall. In 2019 he won the audition in the orchestra of the Košice City Theater (Slovakia). In 2020 he founded the Goldmark Quartet, which has been active in the chamber music scene for two years and is building a professional career.
